Oh, the pressures of writing a “Why? Weekends!” post after a relatively low-key weekend…
On Saturday, some CLEfriends and I had a girls’ night in. We ate ridiculous amounts of yummy Italian food from Casa Italian American Restaurant, drank wine, and watched “My So-Called Life” on DVD. Judge if you want, but gals of a certain age remember and no doubt crushed on Jordan Catalano from that show. The evening was a perfect time-out from how busy life has been and a great chance to relax.
Today, CLEguy and I took the CLEparents to Pickle Bill’s Lobster House. Some CLE-ers will remember there was a Pickle Bill’s in the Flats. The restaurant is now located in Grand River and is full of kitschy, Jimmy Buffet-esque charm.
We started with Pickle Bill’s fried pickles, which came with a great spicy mustard sauce. I enjoyed the king crab legs and the Lake Erie walleye and perch were also table favorites. For a much more comprehensive review of Pickle Bill’s, check out this post from CLEblogger “Cleveland Food and Brews.” Note: I will say our service was much better than he experienced.
All in all, we enjoyed our meal and I definitely look forward to going back in warmer weather to sit out by the water and sip a margarita. But Pickle Bill’s provided a nice taste of summer even on a cold day. And as we were leaving, I discovered my new motto:
What new answers to “Why Cleveland?” did you discover this weekend?
I have heard of Pickle Bills. I am up for checking it out sometime post move, maybe when the weather is nicer and we can sit on the lake and enjoy a margarita pitcher 😉
