***Check out my blog interview today over at My Retro Kitchen. Every week, Amie features a “Friday Feasting with Friends.” I am so honored that Amie asked me to be one of her interview subjects! She also snagged some pretty cute pics from my Facebook stash! Check it out for my thoughts on things cooking and food related, then check out the rest of Amie’s fantastic blog. It will make your mouth water, I promise! This girl is a cooking whiz, a great mom, and a wonderful blogger!***
The unofficial end of summer is upon us, CLE! But there’s a ton going on this weekend and beyond to keep you busy well into fall…
The Cleveland National Air Show is happening at Burke Lakefront Airport from September 3-5. If you work downtown, you’ve already heard the planes buzzing around during the day, practicing for the show. The Air Show is a staple of a CLE Labor Day weekend…I can remember CLEgrandpa taking me when I was little. Tickets range from $19-$30 for adults.
Another staple of a CLE Labor Day? Oktoberfest, happening September 2-5 at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds. There will be live music, from the Cleveland Pops to the Spazmatics; authentic German, Hungarian, and Polish cuisine, plus Hodge Podge Truck; a Glockenspiel and, oh yeah, BEER! Admission is $8 on-line and $10 at the gate. Put on your leiderhosen and head over to the Fairgrounds!
Can’t get enough of festivals? The Lake County Perch Fest is going on September 9-11 in Fairport Harbor. This festival features Ohio’s largest Lake Erie perch fry, with tons of delicious food. There is also a fishing tournament, entertainment, and more, all sponsored by the Lake County Visitor’s Bureau. Admission is free!
Ingenuity Fest is back and bigger than ever at the Detroit-Superior Bridge from September 16-18. This year’s theme is Cur(Re)nts and “seeks to play with the power of the forces that flow around us every day.” This is an amazing, fun, inspiring event, so be sure to check it out!
And while you’re at Ingenuity Fest, you can grab a bite (or several) to eat with the Emerging Chefs C4 event. This a 4-night culinary treat from September 15-18, featuring Chef Matthew Mathlage from Light Bistro, Chef Jeffrey Jarrett from AMP 150, Chef Brian Rosander from Rosander, and Chef Pete Royce from Bistro on Lincoln Park. Tickets are $55 per dinner or $175 to attend all 4 events.
NEO Food Tours is taking their Signature Series Food Tour to Gordon Square on September 21, starting at 6:30pm. The tour kicks off at La Boca Barrio and will meander through the revitalized Gordon Square area, stopping at 4 restaurants to sample “off menu” small plates and chat with the chefs. The tour ends with a cocktail at Southern Wine and Spirits. Tickets are $75 and there are only 4 tickets left, so grab yours today!
So much great stuff going on in CLE! Where will you be this Labor Day and beyond? Wherever it is, have a wonderful and safe holiday!
