Back when CLEguy and I got engaged, I promised that I wouldn’t let the blog become a pseudo-wedding blog. And while I still won’t do that, I’ve been pleasantly surprised at how many of you are interested in the wedding plans.
So, I thought I’d do a “where we’re at in the planning” post and maybe sprinkle in a couple more between now and the big day.
Date: June 2, 2012
Venue: This was the first order of business after getting engaged. I can’t believe how quickly things book up! Our ceremony is at St. John Vianney Catholic church and our reception is at Landerhaven in the Grand Ballroom.
Food/Drink: Landerhaven does their own catering in house, which eliminated the “having to find a caterer.” As I mentioned in Monday’s post, we did our tasting this past weekend and everything was delicious! My personal favorite was the leftover lobster bisque we got to take home! We also got to meet our maitre d for that evening…I feel so fancy just typing that!
Cake: Ultimately, we decided to have Landerhaven make our cake as well, but we also did tasting at two great CLE bakeries: Luna Bakery and Cakes by Nadine. I would highly recommend either of these to any brides-to-be. My favorite part about the Luna tasting was that she provided us with squares of different cake flavors with frostings and fillings separately, so that we could mix and match our own combinations.
Flowers: We met with two great CLE florists: Heather Lily and Blooms by Plantscaping. We chose Blooms and are so excited to be working with Arne, who is creating some beautiful things for us. In December, we got to see mock-ups of some his ideas, which really helped with starting to get a vision of what the wedding will look like. The flowers will be in varying shades of pink, from pale to medium. My favorite two flowers in the mix: stargazers and cala lilies.
DJ/Music: We went with Selective Sound. One of my favorite things about them is their client website, where I can log-in and enter song choices, names for announcements, etc. all on my own time.
Our first dance song is a little different. It’s called “These are the Nights” by Making April. CLEguy heard it in December 2010 (long before we were engaged), downloaded it, and played it for me one night on the beach when we were in Jamaica last April (still, before we were engaged). He told me he thought we could dance to it at the wedding. Sigh…perfect!
Our photographer from New Image – Heather – is the kind of person who makes you instantly comfortable and I know she’ll get some amazing, relaxed, natural pictures that day. Our engagement photo shoot is a great indication of that:
Dresses/Tuxes: You didn’t think I was going to tell you what my dress looks like, did you?! CLEguy reads this after all (or he tells me he does). I will say that I got it from Brides by Demetrios and it makes me feel beautiful, which is really what a wedding dress should do.
My 6 fabulous bridesmaids got their dresses from Catan Fashions. The dresses are silver satin and one-shouldered. Should I say what every bride says: that they’ll wear them again? Nah…I’ve been a bridesmaid enough to know better!
Our tuxes are from American Commodore. While I know the guys will look quite handsome, there’s just not the same excitement in tuxes as in dresses, is there?!
Since I’m not showing you dresses, I’ll at least show you my shoes. CLEmom spoils me rotten and I’m going to feel quite SATC in these:
Invitations: Our guest list has grown to the size of a (small) town and I genuinely don’t know how that happened. But I wouldn’t change it for the world, either! We ordered our invitations through The Invitation Studio and they will be going out in April.
Our Save the Dates were designed by CLEguy himself using pictures from our engagement shoot (we had 2 different styles of Save the Dates). It’s pretty fun to see ourselves on our friends’ fridges!
Honeymoon: There are days when I swear we’re getting married so we can take a vacation afterward! We’re going to St. Lucia and staying at the Anse Chastanet resort. It’s an all-inclusive resort and the package even includes excursions such as sailing and a trip to the sulfur springs. And they have daily yoga…I wonder if I can pack my mat? What’s really cool, though, is our room only has 3 walls, with the fourth open “wall” opening to the mountains and sea. I can’t wait!
What’s Next: Registering for gifts, my first dress fitting, booking a limo, planning the ceremony, and the bridal shower (in April). If you enjoy the updates, I’ll check in with another one after the next round of things are done.
So far, it’s been a really fun and exciting process! There are some wonderful vendors here in CLE to make your day really special and I can’t wait for ours!
