***A bit of blogkeeping: While I’m off on my honeymoon, I’ve lined up some fabulous Cleveland bloggers to give new Why CLE? perspectives. Today we have Heather from Mile 26 and More, telling us about her favorite resources for runners in Cleveland. Thanks, Heather!***
Hi Why CLE friends! My name is Heather and I blog over at Mile 26 and More. Jen was kind enough to ask for a guest post while she’s out enjoying her time as a honeymooner!
I thought I’d stick to what I know (running!) and talk about my favorite Cleveland running resources.
First of all, you need to know where to find the races in your part of town. My #1 go-to for this is Hermes.
Besides having the most intensive list of races, their races are always organized and really well run. You can register online and they always start on time (huge bonus!).
Another great place to look for local races is Active.com. All you have to do is search for Cleveland on their site and you’ll be bombarded with race options! Plus, they have many of the “obscure” races on their site, too (that’s where I found the Great Amazing Race!
So, now that you’ve registered for your race, now you need the perfect shoes. 🙂
My two favorite places for shoes are:
Both places are small, personalized, and employ knowledgable people to help you find the right shoe for YOU. This is key. Ladies, the one bad thing about running shoes is that they’re not always pretty. Unfortunately, you can’t just buy the pink shoes because they’re pretty – they could end up giving you blisters, or knee problems, or worse! BUT, both stores will order your shoe in a different color if it’s offered. I always take them up on this option since I try to find the girliest shoes possible. 🙂
And now that you have the race and the perfect shoes, you need the perfect outfit (like we need a reason to shop, right?)!
Hands down, my #1 go-to store for running clothes is Lululemon.
I know that their prices are excessive compared to other running clothes, but their stuff is far superior (in my opinion). Plus, it’s girly and fun! Their running capris and racer back tanks are my most favorite running items ever ever ever.
And you can find cheaper options on their We Made Too Much site!! I’ve bought many of my racer back tanks from this site (my husband cringes every time a new package shows up on our doorstep – hehe). But if you are a “try before you buy” kind of person, the store on Chagrin carries lots of running options, in addition to their yoga clothes.
So, I think I’ve got you covered: race, shoes, and clothes. But my #1 most favorite Cleveland racing resources are the other Cleveland runner bloggers. You can check out my blogroll for some pretty awesome running bloggers. I’m inspired and awed by these people every day – they make me want to be a better, stronger runner. Running has exploded over the past 2 years in Cleveland and I’m proud to be a part of such an amazing community.
Thanks for letting me guest post, Jen! Hope you’re enjoying beautiful weather, cocktails on the beach, and amazing food (and of course your new hubby)!
