Why? Cleveland Zoological Society Upcoming Events!

One of the greatest places in Cleveland is our Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. From the African Elephant Crossing to the Rainforest, there are tons of great exhibits and cool creatures to see. The Cleveland Zoological Society helps to keep our zoo one of Cleveland’s best attractions.

The Cleveland Zoological Society has two upcoming events that allow you to enjoy the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, while supporting the mission of the Zoological Society. Read on to find out about the events and for a chance to win tickets to one of them!

Twilight at the Zoo happens Friday, August 3.

This event features 18 of the best bands in Cleveland, playing all night at the zoo! The party starts at 7pm and goes until midnight. VIP tickets are sold out, but you can still snag General Admission tickets for $75. Your ticket gets you complimentary drinks, hors d’oeuvres, and all the great music you can hear in an incredibly fun setting.

This is a not-to-be-missed party!

Then, on Friday, August 24, the Cleveland Zoological Society is teaming up with the Cleveland 20/30 Club to present the first-ever Date Night at the Zoovies.

Starting at 7pm, you can mix and mingle through the Australian Adventure and Africa exhibits, while enjoying an open bar and light appetizers.

Then, at 8:30, enjoy a screening of the 1985 classic The Breakfast Club in the Zoo Amphitheater. Seating is first come, first served, so you may want to bring a blanket for snuggling and watching the movie. Tickets are $30 for one or $50 for two. What a perfectly wild date night!

I have 2 tickets to Date Night at the Zoovies to giveaway to one lucky reader! Here’s how to enter:

1. Leave a comment letting me know your favorite 1980’s movie. While I love The Breakfast Club, my absolute favorite is Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.

2. Tweet the following phrase and leave a separate comment letting me know you tweeted: I want to sneak out of detention and go to Date Night at the Zoovies with @WhyCLE and @clevezoosociety: http://wp.me/p1fb9r-NK

You can tweet once a day for additional entries. Just leave a separate comment each time you tweet.

The contest ends Tuesday, July 17 at 11:59pm and the winner will be announced here the next day. Good luck!

***Disclosure: I was asked by the Cleveland Zoological Society to help promote Twilight at the Zoo and Date Night at the Zoovies. In exchange, I received one complimentary and one discounted VIP ticket to Twilight at the Zoo and two complimentary tickets to Date Night at the Zoovies. As always, all opinions are 100% my own.***

Date night @ the zoovies sounds like so much fun! My favorite 80s movie is Aventures in Babysitting! I’ve seen it a million times and could quote the whole thing.

  2. My favorite 80’s movie is Big. I love Tom Hanks in almost everything he has been in, but he seemed to have so much fun in this role acting like a kid again. The scene where he is in the toy store, dancing on the BIG piano is brilliant!

  3. Gauri

So many to choose from! When Harry Met Sally, the Back to the Future series, the original Star Wars series! I may have to go with the sob classic Beaches though!

  4. Mike T

So many to choose from… Mine’s a non-traditional choice. Terry Gilliam’s Brazil is an 80’s movie by production date, if not genre.

  5. The Princess Bride is probably my favorite, but it was hard with the Star Wars trilogy and Blade Runner in the mix! Thanks for the chance to win a birthday movie at the zoo!

  6. I’d love the tickets and will tweet as well. My fav 80’s movie might actually be the breakfast club. In fact, my boyfriend and I’s first day was an 80’s themed costume party and we went as John Bender and Claire Standish. So this is appropriate!

I am late to the contest but I just had to write that I love Mannequin and Can’t Buy Me Love (both 1987) since no one else mentioned them ๐Ÿ™‚
