After waking from our AMP 150 food coma, there was lots to do the rest of the weekend in CLE! First, unable to bi-locate myself on Friday night, my friend Katie attended Date Night at the Zoovies to benefit the Cleveland Zoological Society and provided this recap:
Friday’s warm and sunny weather made for a perfect Date Night at the Zoovies. After arriving, my date and I grabbed a few glasses of Great Lakes beer and wandered through the sections of the zoo that were open for the night, Australian Adventure and African Savannah. It was very cool to take an ‘after hours’ stroll around the zoo while the sun was setting.
Judging by where the most people were gathered, Elephant Crossing was definitely was the favorite spot of the night (including mine!) Besides being such an impressive and expansive space, the elephants are always just so fun to watch, and are definitely not camera shy!
We headed over to the amphitheater a few minutes before the movie started to stock up on some movie food – popcorn, hot pretzels, and of course, candy.
Even though I’ve seen Back to the Future before, it was a great experience to be able to watch it outside under the stars with a whole crowd of people who cheered together at all the best parts, like when….well, I won’t spoil it for anyone who STILL hasn’t seen it…
Sounds like a great night! Thanks to Katie for the recap!
On Saturday, Matthew and I attended our friends Jeff and Erin’s wedding at Crystal Brook Farm. This is a beautiful location for a rustic, very Pinterest-inspired wedding.
The weather was perfect, the food (from All Around Town Catering) was delicious, and the music was great! And the bride and groom were the one of the happiest couples I’ve seen!
We had a fabulous time toasting to Jeff and Erin’s happiness! Here’s to a lifetime more!
Sunday afternoon, Matthew, my parents, and I checked out the Wine and Walleye Festival in Ashtabula. It was the perfect weather for a summer festival!
The festival ran out of walleye, but the perch was tasty and the wine tastings, while a bit pricey, were enjoyable. All in all, it was a pleasant afternoon checking out something new and I’ve never met a summer festival I didn’t get excited about.
How was your weekend, CLE?
***Disclosure: I was asked by the Cleveland Zoological Society to help promote Date Night at the Zoovies. In exchange, I received 2 tickets to the event. As I was unable to attend, Katie attended in my place. In this instance, all opinions are 100% Katie’s.***
