It was a fun weekend to kick off February! Friday night, Matthew and I attended the Lake Erie Monsters hockey game with some other fine blogger folks, such as My Managed Chaos, Ka-Ka-Ka-Katy, and Being Mom2Amara. We got to hang out in one of the suites, which provided a great view of all the icy action.

We also got a tour of all the fun things the Monsters offer before the game, from puck shots to photo ops to hair and face painting to charity raffles.

We also got a personal visit from Sully, the Monsters’ mascot, and his “wingman” up in our suite.

Note: Matthew is not Sully’s wingman

Although the Monsters lost the game, it was still a fun evening! The Monsters provide an affordable and fun-for-the-whole-family way to take in a sporting event, with ticket prices starting at $10. Check out the schedule for upcoming games and promotions!

On Sunday, we headed over to Lane and Nathan’s house for a Super Bowl party. I made bacon and cheese dip (recipe) and s’mores bars (recipe) as my party contributions, because what’s a Super Bowl without bacon and sweets?!

We paid more attention to the halftime show and commercials than to the game, of course. I thought Bruno Mars did a great job, although I found the combination with the Red Hot Chili Peppers a little odd.

The commercial that had everyone laughing was Audi’s ad. I’m still not totally sure what it has to do with Audis, but it was memorable!

And of course I loved the Budweiser #bestbuds spot, which had me in tears when I saw the preview of it!

How was your weekend? Did you watch the big game? What commercials did you love?

***Disclosure: I was invited to attend the Lake Erie Monsters game with a guest and received complimentary suite tickets and a parking pass. As always, all opinions are 100% my own.***

  1. Lake Erie Monsters games are a blast. If I could justify buying season tickets for any sport right now I’d probably buy some from them. We keep managing to get suite seats but they get pounded each time so it might be us. In regular seats we’ve seen wins. lol. It always seems like a great time for families. The Superbowl was a giant dud but luckily we were at a friend’s place and she was pouring fireball whisky shots often. I was happy to see the Captain America: Winter Soldier trailer.
