As you’ve probably seen on social media, if not in person, Playhouse Square has been adding some pretty incredible additions to its neighborhood. From huge “Playhouse Square” arches as you enter the district to the massive GE chandelier (the world’s largest outdoor chandelier), Playhouse Square is taking on a whole new look.

To celebrate the lighting of the GE chandelier, Playhouse Square is throwing a Dazzle the District party on Friday, May 2.

Dazzle the District celebrates not just the theaters, but the whole Playhouse Square area. As the New York Times recently recognized, Playhouse Square’s unique business model is based on not just the theaters, but on owning area real estate to develop into a true district of its own, with restaurants, hotels, businesses, and more.

Dazzle the District kicks off with happy hour from 5:30pm-8pm at the Playhouse Square area restaurants. The “Taste of Playhouse Square” will offer food and beverage for purchase along East 14th Street. There will also be live music on Star Plaza.

At 8:30pm, Hot Chelle Ray will perform on the University Hospitals Main Stage.

Then, at 9:30pm, the lighting ceremony for the spectacular GE chandelier will take place.

Dazzle the District is free and open to the public. This is sure to be an event filled with excitement and Cleveland pride that you don’t want to miss!

    I’m so excited about Dazzle the District! The theater district is one of the prettiest areas in the city in my opinion and one of the areas I’m most proud to take friends to so I’m glad it’s getting even more attention! I’ll be downtown all day with a field trip I’ve organized to Progressive Fields and Lolly the Trolley so I’m especially looking forward to ending the day enjoying this celebration with my family.

    I’m excited for Dazzle the District because since my office is located in Playhouse Square, I’ve gotten to realize all the benefits of a thriving theatre district in our wonderful city. It’s breathtaking to see the excitement and energy when I leave work each day!

    I’m excited to take Matilda to see this… I can imagine her in 15/20 years saying “I remember being there when they lit the chandelier!” Plus, PHS is just such a fabulous part of our city!
