While Saturday was spent enjoying a wonderful evening at the Autism Speaks Cleveland Chef Gala, there was plenty of other fun to be had over the weekend! On Friday night, we went over to Nathan and Lane‘s house for a cookout.
We’ve gotten to know other of Nathan and Lane’s friends through their parties and we always enjoy the time with them! We also got to meet a sweet little girl who has the same birthday as Jeffrey.
Aside from the tasty cookout food, we also roasted marshmallows over a fire pit and made s’mores, which are always the perfect summer dessert.
It was a relaxing evening enjoying friends, food, and the fabulous summer weather!
Saturday, before the Chef Gala, we stopped by another cookout at our friends Brian and Laura’s house.
‘Tis the season for cookouts!
On Sunday, we met up with my parents, who had kept Jeffrey for his first overnight visit. I think I was more worried about how I would hold up then how Jeffrey would do! From all accounts, everyone did well and made it through the night with a minimum of fuss (myself included).
We went to brunch at Burntwood Tavern in Brecksville. Matthew and I both enjoyed the Bloody Mary bar, with plenty of spices, mixes, and toppings to create a customized drink.
Matthew had the eggs Benedict with smoked salmon and I had the corned beef hash.
Both of us put the food in the “good, not great” category. I did really enjoy the bite I stole of my mom’s broken yolk egg sandwich, with bacon and garlic aioli on black pepper bread, so it might have been an ordering issue on my part.
All in all, it was a busy, food-filled, fun weekend, which is just how we like them around here! How was your weekend?
