It was a festive Fourth of July weekend for us! Plus, with the fabulous weather, how could you help having a great time? Matthew was off on Friday, so we decided to do a family afternoon of pizza and the beach. We started at Guilio Bonazza’s, which has been voted the best pizza in Lake County for the last two years.
We can certainly see why! The pizza was really delicious and the crust was some of the best I’ve had. Matthew and I shared the monthly special, the Southwest Sizzler, with a BBQ and Sriracha hot sauce, cheese, chicken, onions, and jalapenos. Jeffrey enjoyed a side order of meatballs, which must have been very tasty, as they were gone really quickly!
From there, we headed to Headlands Beach State Park to introduce Jeffrey to Lake Erie. He had a great time playing in the sand and getting his feet wet in the waves. It was a perfect beach day and a good reminder of how great it is to live close to the lake!
Friday evening, I found myself in need of more Alicia time. Having spent time with one of my favorite ladies two days in a row, I figured why not go for the trifecta?! I went to her “happy hour” Sweet Heat flow at Evolution Yoga, which was the perfect balance of a good work-out and some meditative calm.
Saturday morning, we met up with our Kindermusik friends for play time, lunch, and a Fourth of July parade.
It was a fun way to kick off the Fourth! The rest of the weekend was filled with family time. We had a cook-out at my parents’ house on Saturday afternoon and then on Sunday, we celebrated Matthew’s Great Uncle Bill’s 95th birthday! That’s a seriously impressive milestone. Great Uncle Bill was at Jeffrey’s 1st birthday, so it was a pretty neat reminder of the circle of life to have Jeffrey attend his 95th birthday.
All in all, a perfect holiday weekend if I do say so myself! How was your Fourth of July?
