Saturday night, I spent my birthday evening at one of my favorite fundraisers, Chefs Unbridled, with some of my favorite chefs. In the spirit of the Emmy Awards that just aired (and the fact that we walked into the event on a red carpet), I thought I’d present some of my own “awards” from the evening:
Most Creative Dish: Toast presented a creative and delicious dish
Best Presentation: Rocky River Wine Bar‘s ahi tuna cones with creme fraiche. Not only were they tasty, they were grab-and-go, which is always nice at a food and wine event!
Freshest: The rigatoni with lamb bolognese from Flour. They were making the pasta right on site! And somehow I missed getting a picture!
Most Fall-Like Dish: The short rib with sweet potato puree from Sanctuary. It made me ready for cool nights and warm cups of cider!
Best Taste: A tie between Chef Scott Kuhn’s truffle Wellington and Chef Chris Hodgson’s butter-poached lobster with corn risotto. Both Driftwood Foods offerings were decadently delicious!
Most Generous: While all the chefs and restaurants and sponsors showed huge generosity, Driftwood Foods takes the win here. They donated a 20-person dinner party with wine pairings to be auctioned. When two bidders both reached $12,000, Chefs Hodgson and Kuhn doubled the offer. Each $12,000 bidder won a 20-person dinner party, which doubled the amount raised for Fieldstone Farm!
Star of the Evening: Which brings me to the award for Star of the Evening. Lady G, a therapy horse at Fieldstone Farm stole the show when she entered the tent. Her gentle grace and beauty reminded us why we were all there: to help raise money to put challenged kids and adults in programs with the amazing therapy horses.
It was a perfect evening of good food, good wine, and a good cause! Until next year, Fieldstone Farm and Chefs Unbridled…
***Disclosure: I was asked to help promote Chefs Unbridled. In exchange, I received 2 complimentary tickets to the event. As always, all opinions are 100% my own.***
