Why? Weekends!

Since it was my birthday weekend, I had plenty of fun things planned from family time to “me” time. Friday morning, Jeffrey and I met up with friends at Patterson Fruit Farm for their Fun Fest. What we didn’t realize is that Patterson’s has 2 locations and the Fun Fest…well, it was at the one where we weren’t. But there were still apple fritters and cider slushies and pumpkins, so I’ll call it a perfect fall-like morning!

Friday evening, I decided that my weekly yoga class would be at Balance & Brews latest event called Namaste Day. Namaste Day combined a 75-minute vinyasa practice at Harmony Studios with a after-practice gathering at The Morehouse, complete with a pint of Namaste beer courtesy of Dogfish Head.

The best of part of Namaste Day was the idea that you not only practice and drink beer, but do something good/positive/sustaining and share that with your fellow beer yogis. The first Namaste Day was definitely a hit! There will be repeats every third Thursday of the month through December for only $20!

Saturday was not only my birthday, but also International Talk Like a Pirate Day! Jeffrey has a particular affinity for pirates, so we headed to the Children’s Museum of Cleveland for their Pirate Day event. Jeffrey was one of the only kids in costume, which I believe is what made him give me this look…

It was a fun event, which included a treasure map to follow throughout the museum, pirate-themed crafts, and pirate story time.

After all that fun, we stuffed ourselves with delicious Italian food at Presti’s Bakery to cap off a great afternoon!

On Sunday, Matthew, Jeffrey, and I headed to check out The Great Pumpkin Fest, part of Halloweekends at Cedar Point. There’s a ton of fun stuff for kids, including trick-or-treating in the Kiddie Land area, a gigantic bounce-house like pumpkin, a hay bale maze, and a non-spooky “haunted” house.

We all had a blast! On our way home, we stopped by the Prayers from Maria sunflower field, which is in gorgeous bloom along I-90. This is such a stunning tribute to those afflicted with childhood cancers and a powerful reminder to be thankful for good health.

We ended the day with dinner at my parents house, including a decadent and delicious cake from A Cookie and a Cupcake!

What a great birthday weeekend! Thanks to everyone who helped make it so special!
