It was a picture-perfect fall weekend, so of course we had to get out and about and soak it all in! On Saturday, Matthew, Jeffrey, and I met up with my parents at Maize Valley Winery for their Hot Air Balloon Lift-Off and Fall Harvest Festival. We went early in the day, so while we didn’t see any hot air balloons, we did manage to miss the crowds!
There was still plenty to see, with pumpkins (and the very cool pumpkin cannon)…
…critters (both real and as part of the kids critter train)…
…and really tasty pumpkin donuts.
There are also hay rides, pig races, lots of fun things for kids to climb on and slide down, and tasty hard apple cider and pumpkin beer for the grown-ups. You can find out about all the Maize Valley fall events here.
On Sunday, Jeffrey and I met up with our Kindermusik friends at the Ohio City Street Festival. The West Side Market was open for the day and West 25th Street was filled with stands from the businesses, restaurants, and breweries of Ohio City. There was live music and activities at the Ohio City Farm too.
For lunch, Jeffrey enjoyed some mac ‘n cheese from Weenie a Go Go and I had pierogi from Jukebox. Of course we saved room for Mitchell’s Ice Cream! I highly recommend a taster’s duo with autumn caramel apple and pumpkin spice…it’s fall in a cup!
I started thinking about the juxtaposition of our Saturday and Sunday activities. I love that we could just as easily take Jeffrey to activities in the country as in the city. I think it makes for a really well-rounded experience. But you all know where our hearts really lie!
How was your weekend?
