Why? Weekends!

It was a great weekend filled with pre-Halloween fun, so let’s get right to it! On Thursday evening, Matthew and I took Jeffrey to Boo at the Zoo at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo.

This event combines trick or treating; a Halloween party with music, crafts, and more; and of course zoo critters for a fabulous time! We loved all the festive decorations and the zoo workers and volunteers who were so sweet and good with kids! We also enjoyed the pirate-themed animal show (for obvious reasons), as well as seeing characters like this Minion.

I also appreciated the 5pm start time, which gave us a chance to get in plenty of fun and still be home in time for Jeffrey’s bedtime. Boo at the Zoo is definitely on our calendar for next year!

On Friday, Jeffrey, our Kindermusik friends, and I took advantage of the gorgeous weather with a visit to the Holden Arboretum. While admission to the Arboretum is included with our Botanical Garden membership, this was the first time I had been there and I left wondering why I waited so long.

Aside from the gorgeous fall foliage, we also checked out the new Murch Canopy Walk and Kalberer Emergent Tower. Both of these structures afford gorgeous views of the surrounding area and a new way to experience the beauty of the Arboretum.

The Canopy Walk and Emergent Tower are open daily from 9am-5pm until November 1. Tickets are required, but the price of admission is included with admission to the Arboretum.

On Saturday, we met up with friends for the Owls & Howls Halloween Party at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History. This museum has quickly become a family favorite and a membership is definitely on our Christmas wish list!

Owls & Howls allowed you to explore the museum, with additional animal shows, crafts, and the opportunity to get up close and personal with critters.

Jeffrey particularly loved the chance to sit in a dinosaur-sized footprint and explore the World’s Largest Dinosaurs exhibit, including digging for “dinosaur bones.”

Much like Boo at the Zoo, Owls & Howls took a favorite spot to visit and made it even more fun with Halloween-themed activities.

And speaking of that, we spent Sunday at Cedar Point enjoying Halloweekends. This was our second trip to Halloweekends, which offers a lot for little ones to enjoy during the day. Perhaps my favorite moment of Sunday was when Jeffrey started line dancing with the (friendly) monsters roaming the Midway.

It was all kinds of adorable! There’s still one more weekend to enjoy Halloweekends this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, so head on up to Cedar Point for some festive fun!

So, that was our fabulous fall weekend! How was yours?
