So, it wasn’t just #JBB25 weekend. There was a lot of other fun to be had, too! On Friday, Jeffrey and I went to a Kindermusik play date themed on Disney Junior’s “The Lion Guard.” Apparently, the show is about the next generation of characters after “The Lion King.” Jeffrey loved the upbeat music and animal themes! Plus, he got this fun mask to take home.
Friday evening, my sister-in-law and nieces came over to play and eat pizza and homemade chocolate chip cookies, which is pretty much a great way to end any week!
Saturday was Jump Back Ball, but it was also the start of a little staycation for Matthew and me. We spent the night at the Westin Cleveland Downtown, which not only provided a convenient location close to Playhouse Square, but it also offered us this view from our room.
Pretty spectacular! Before JBB, we met up with Sara and Ron for some tasty cocktails in the Westin Club Lounge, which provided a perfect start to a glamorous evening.
If you’re looking for a staycation location, I highly recommend the Westin! Although, no guarantees you won’t insist on sleeping with the curtains open to watch the lights on the Terminal Tower, thus making sleep very difficult for your husband (sorry, babe).
Sunday morning, we headed right downstairs for brunch at Urban Farmer. I had the cheddar bacon biscuit and Matthew had the shrimp and grits. It was a yummy meal, but as a head’s up, if you want a Bloody Mary to go with it, you can’t order it until 11am (at least on a Sunday).
I can classify this as haute hangover food. No Waffle House sausage and gravy here (not that there’s anything wrong with that). I always said I wasn’t much of a brunch person, but all these great brunch options in Cleveland are changing my mind on that!
After we headed home, we simply had to spend the rest of the day outside enjoying the beautiful weather!
65 and sunny in February?! We’ll take it!
Oh, and because I need to share this recipe, please excuse the reach for a tie-in: If you’re looking for a perfect weekend breakfast treat, you seriously can’t do better than these blueberry muffins that my friend Sara made for one of our weekly moms-have-coffee, kids-play-trucks dates.
They’re made with whole wheat flour and yogurt and you can substitute applesauce for the sugar. They are so, so good!
So, that was our weekend. I never seem to realize how much we pack in to three days until I go to write about it…
How was your weekend?
