April is Autism Awareness Month, so from wearing blue to the event to seeing places around town lit up in blue, we are all focused on “lighting it up blue” this month.
Pier W General Manager Mark Kawada was our gracious host, providing everything from blue-tinted beverages to a yummy spread of appetizers such as spanakopita, crab rangoons, and bacon-wrapped scallops…
…to these delicious puzzle-piece cookies!
Aside from the chance to mingle and nibble, we also got to see the many proclamations and community support for Autism Awareness Month.
Everyone really is lighting it up blue this month!
So, how can you help? This month, wear blue, put a blue light bulb in your outdoor lights, or head to your local Panera Bread from April 11-17 to purchase a puzzle-piece shortbread cookie to benefit the Cleveland Clinic Children’s Center for Autism.
Or commit now to attending an upcoming Autism Speaks event, like the Chef Gala in August or the Autism Speaks Walk in September. However you acknowledge Autism Awareness Month, I hope you will join me in lighting it up blue for the 1 in 68 children affected with autism.
