Phew! It was a busy and fun (and HOT) weekend! On Friday, Jeffrey and I headed to the Lake Metroparks Farm Park for a morning of play. The Farm Park is currently hosting Ice Cream Weekends and we had fun checking out the imaginative indoor ice cream factory.
From there, we went to see the animals, from the new baby piglets to sheep to a very friendly horse.
And we ended our morning playing in the new Showman’s Circle. This area was just re-opened and is beautiful! There is brand new playground equipment, a water play area, gardens, and picnic tables perfect for enjoying lunch.
This is such a great addition to somewhere that is already one of our favorite places to visit!
Friday evening, Matthew finished up bottling his second batch of beer made at The Brew Kettle. Not only does The Brew Kettle make delicious beer, but you can brew your own creations there too. Matthew and his friend Jason have brewed a Belgian Tripel twice now and they are quite tasty!
You can make different varieties of beer and give them your own unique name and label too. Here, Chris shows off his Larry O’Brien Championship IPA (with a label that features his picture with the actual trophy)!

On Saturday, we hosted our 5th annual backyard BBQ. This is one of my favorite traditions! I love to see our house and yard filled with friends and food and fun.
Plus, it’s been so neat to see the evolution over 5 years…I think the kids now outnumber the adults and we definitely don’t stay up as late as we used to! But it’s always a nice chance to catch up with friends old and new.
And Jeffrey was the life of the party!
Both Matthew and I take a lot of pride in having a home that is great for entertaining and there’s nothing we like more than sharing that with our friends (and now Jeffrey’s friends, too).
Sunday was mostly spent cleaning up from the BBQ and getting ready for the week ahead. I did make a yummy dinner using almost entirely Fresh Fork Market ingredients: a casserole with zucchini, summer squash, onion, garlic, Italian sausage, fresh mozzarella cheese, and tomato sauce.
It was a really fun weekend! How was yours?
