Why? AMP 150 Winter Harvest Dinner!

There’s definitely a chill in the air, which made Friday night’s Winter Harvest Dinner at AMP 150 the perfect treat. AMP 150 hosts four seasonal harvest dinners throughout the year, with a three-course, family-style meal.

We received a delicious welcome cocktail with bourbon, orange bitters, cinnamon-infused liquor, and hot sauce. It tasted like a liquid red hot and I drank the entire thing, even though I don’t usually enjoy bourbon.

Our first course featured four appetizers, all served family-style except for the squash soup with pumpernickel croutons.


The soup was thick and delicious and the pumpernickel croutons added great texture.

The other appetizers were shrimp and chorizo grit cakes; mushroom tart with Killbuck Valley mushrooms, ricotta, pears, and truffle; and a pear salad with poached pears, kale, and pecans.

My favorite was the mushroom tart. The pastry was light and flaky and the ricotta and pears perfectly complimented the earthiness of the mushrooms. The poached pears in the salad were also phenomenal!

The entree course featured two meat dishes, one seafood, and two vegetarian dishes. There was skirt steak with pickled bok choy and roasted pork loin with apple, cherry, and bacon.

The flavor of the skirt steak was delicious and the meat was so tender! And the pork dish tasted just like something you’d want at your holiday table!

My favorite of the entrees were the scallops, served with parsnip puree and pomegranate vinaigrette.


The scallops were perfectly done and the puree and vinaigrette added both sweet and tart elements to the dish. This is where family style came in handy: I think I snagged more than my share of scallops!

And the roasted cauliflower and mushroom risotto rounded out the entrees. Both were tasty and filling and showcased AMP 150’s farm to table skill.

And I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that both courses were expertly paired with wines from AMP 150’s collection.

Finally, our dessert course featured a chocolate and fig cake and a blood orange trifle. These desserts were a nice balance of rich and light. And the ice wine cocktail with chocolate-chip-stuffed boozy cherries (for real) was a sweet way to end the evening.


The Winter Harvest Dinner was packed with seasonal deliciousness and showed off the culinary skill and creativity at AMP 150. Plus, what a great deal!
