Why? Hatch at Heinen’s!

It’s hatch chile season at Heinen’s! Heinen’s has partnered with Melissa’s Produce to provide these flavorful, spicy peppers from New Mexico. The growing season for hatch chiles is incredibly short: only 4 to 6 weeks! So, your time to enjoy these peppers is limited, too!

Various Heinen’s stores are hosting hatch chile roasts, as well as hatch celebrations, highlighting all the ways you can use these peppers. Roasting hatch chiles really enhances the flavor, for a much richer, meatier taste.

On Saturday, I got the chance to head to the Rocky River Heinen’s to taste a variety of tempting small bites, all made with hatch chiles.

And while I had already gotten hooked on hatch chiles last summer, I didn’t realize how diverse these peppers could be. We got to enjoy hatch lemonade and watermelon hatch gazpacho to kick off our sampling. Both were spicy and sweet, with a great balance of flavors!

We also got to sample hatch pinwheels (hatch chiles, cream cheese, and garlic in tortillas,) hummus with hatch, mini hatch cornbread muffins, guacamole with mango and hatch chiles, and even chocolate chip cookies with a little bit of heat from hatch chiles.

Heinen’s also expertly paired all these tasty offerings with beers and wines available in the stores: Market Garden Old Zahm, Platform 9021 Gose, Ca Di Alte Extra Dry Prosecco, and Roquesante Rose. Hatch chiles work well with both beer and wine!

Heinen’s offers mild, hot, and extra hot hatch chiles, both roasted and raw. They are tasty and delicious and work well in everything from mac ‘n cheese to guacamole to desserts. They also freeze well, so you can extend the life of the all-too-short hatch chile season for as long as your stash holds out.

Also, you can enter the Hatch Match photo contest, by uploading a picture of what you made using your hatch chiles to Instagram and tagging @heinens and using the hashtags #HatchatHeinens and #Contest.

Don’t miss your chance to Catch the Hatch at Heinen’s!

***Disclosure: I was invited by Heinen’s to a complimentary hatch chile tasting event, at which I received food, beer and wine tastings, and a swag bag. As always, all opinions are 100% my own.***
