The number one reason I love Cleveland so much is the people who call this city home. We are passionate, dedicated, helpful, kind, and real. And coming up this month, there’s an event that puts this passion and kindness on full display: Cleveland Leadership Center‘s Accelerate.
At this event on Wednesday, February 21, 25 Clevelanders will present their ideas for positive civic change in five different categories, including “Community Change,” “Economic and Workforce Development,” “Quality of Life,” and “Health and Wellness.”
This year’s group of presenters are the most diverse in the history of the event, 68% are women and 52% are non-white. The pitches cover the range of topics from employment and healthy eating to literacy, gardens, artwork and the global refugee crisis. Many specifically target women: improving quality of life for single parents, helping economically distressed young mothers, empowering caregivers, and promoting breastfeeding in the African American community.
Tickets are currently on sale online to watch the pitch presentations and finalist selections, as well as attend a reception with those pitching their ideas. Tickets are $30 for Cleveland Leadership Center members, $35 for the general public, and $20 for students.
This event is a wonderful chance to connect with people committed to bettering our city, get inspired, and support the next wave of change-makers in Cleveland.
