True to my Eastern European heritage and my status as a lifelong Clevelander, I love pierogi. So, when I got an invite to check out Mom’s Pierogies in Brooklyn, I couldn’t resist!
Mom’s Pierogies is so named because owner Janet’s mom has been making pierogi for her whole life and people always raved about how delicious they are. In 2003, the business started with deliveries and farmer’s markets. This past July, Mom’s Pierogies opened their storefront location.
You can stop in and get a hot lunch or dinner to go of potato cheddar pierogi and two side dishes (applesauce, cabbage and noodles, cucumber salad, or beet soup) or pick up frozen pierogi to make at home.
I tried the hot lunch with cabbage and noodle and applesauce. I’m a pierogi purist: I like the traditional pierogi fillings with lots of sautéed onions and sour cream. Mom’s Pierogies hit the spot!
I took home the mushroom and potato cheddar jalapeno pierogi to try on my own. Both were flavorful and delicious! And if you’re less of a pierogi purist than I am, you can try the Italian or BBQ Chicken varieties.
Mom’s Pierogies is truly a family-owned and operated business that is making great pierogi in a town that knows it’s pierogi. Stop in to grab a hot lunch or to take home pierogi for a delicious dinner.
***Disclosure: I was invited to visit Mom’s Pierogies and received a complimentary lunch and complimentary frozen pierogi. As always, all opinions are 100% my own.***
