It was another busy weekend in CLE, with holiday parties galore! Friday night, I got another chance to wear my Walmart snowman sweater vest at my friend’s Ugly Christmas Sweater party.
Don’t we all look festive?! There were plenty of holiday munchies, as well as some spiked eggnog to warm us up!
Saturday was a busy day of holiday grocery shopping, writing out Christmas cards, and more! Since CLEguy and I have been running around a ton, like most people this time of year, I decided we needed a date night. Sure, we’ve been doing a lot of things together, but a chance to go out one-on-one has been hard to come by lately.
We headed to one of our favorite spots: Momocho. I can’t say enough about the food, the atmosphere, and the service at this “Mod Mex” spot.
We started with the guacamole sampler with the goat cheese, crab and corn, and jicama/habanero/mint guacamoles. The crab and corn is my favorite: such a tasty combination of spicy and sweet!
You can’t forget the margaritas! I had the spicy mango and CLEguy went for the cucumber with a chile lime salt rim.
For our entrees, CLEguy had the duck taquitos (my favorite!) and I had the beef brisket taquitos. The pomegranate barbacoa with the duck taquitos is to die for! And the ancho and coffee braised beef brisket was tender and so flavorful.
Over a shared dessert of Mexican chocolate pudding – with the most delicious pretzel brittle on top – we agreed that date nights, especially at this busy time of year, are a necessary part of the schedule.
Sunday morning, I woke up with a list of things that needed to be done that day, which is always how it is this time of year. I decided to take an hour to go to yoga class, though, and I am so glad I did.
Our teacher played all Christmas music for the class. It was a cheery, centering experience and definitely put me in the right frame of mind to tackle the holiday week to come!
Sunday afternoon, I went to Katie of Healthy Heddleston‘s baby shower. Katie is such a cute mom-to-be and she was absolutely glowing during her shower.
Sunday evening, CLEguy and I had some friends over for dinner and games by the Christmas tree. Not everyone was as excited as we were…
I made my signature lasagna. I’m not Italian, yet somehow my grandma, mom, and I have over the years created a great lasagna recipe. Everyone’s recipe is a little different, as we make modifications over time, but it’s always fun to cook with an old family recipe.
So, that was my weekend, CLE. A little partying, a little holiday erranding, and a little time for me, too. How was your weekend? How do you find time for yourself during this busy season?
