***A bit of blogkeeping: Congratulations to Aaron (Comment #60), randomly-selected winner of 2 tickets to the Cleveland Wine Festival. Please check your email and respond by the end of the day or a new winner will be chosen. If you didn’t win, you can still purchase tickets by clicking here.
Also, amidst all the BBQ’s and having a long weekend, let’s remember what Memorial Day means. “These fallen heroes represent the character of a nation who has a long history of patriotism and honor…” – Michael N. Castle***
On Saturday evening, Matthew and I headed down to the Nautica Entertainment Complex for what has become a Cleveland Memorial Day Weekend tradition: the Marc’s Great American Rib Cook-Off and Music Festival. In fact, the Rib Cook-Off was just named one of the top 10 Memorial Day BBQ Festivals in the country!
We met up with Alicia and Hans and Beth and Enzo for some saucy fun. There are lots of styles of BBQ available, from Texas to Carolina to St, Louis. Being born in Texas, Matthew naturally chose some Texas-style ribs.
Aside from the tasty ribs, we enjoyed some roasted sweet corn (pretty good for early in the season) and waffle ice cream sandwiches (a must try!).
We also got to jam to the 80’s sounds of Rick Springfield and check out some sweet skyline views.
The Rib Cook-Off is still happening today until 8pm. General admission tickets are only $5 and Bret Michaels is performing tonight at 6pm. Entertainment is included with your general admission. Food and drink tickets are available for purchase for $1.25 per ticket. If you’re looking for a fun way to fill out your Memorial Day Weekend, I recommend checking out the Great American Rib Cook-Off!
***Disclosure: I was asked to help promote the Marc’s Great American Rib Cook-Off and Music Festival. In exchange, I received 2 general admission tickets to attend the event. As always, all opinions are 100% my own.***
