Last weekend, Matthew and I spent the day down in Hartville as part of the “Bloggers Discover Hartville” Campaign. It was a beautiful day for the just-over-an-hour drive south. I love little day trips that let you discover someplace new!
Our first stop in Hartville was Best Bib & Tucker, a cute consignment shop located in a renovated lumber factory building.
Best Bib& Tucker has everything from designer jeans and handbags to formal dresses.
The shop also has new jewelry from both local artisans and distributors in Chicago, as well as a great collection of accessory pieces like fun patterned scarves and funky fedoras.
There are even home items available. I’m kicking myself for not snagging one of these lovely boards for our kitchen!
I ended up with a pair of perfect-for-the-office grey pants, a pale pink bubble necklace with earrings to match, and an Ohio love ornament. The prices are a steal, too: all this for only $35!
Best Bib & Tucker is located just behind the Hartville Chocolate Factory, so we couldn’t resist stopping in for a mixed box of chocolates from their huge selection.
A half-pound box of chocolates was only $7.25! Hartville is super affordable (and tasty). I loved the sea salt caramels and the Grand Marnier truffle was one of Matthew’s favorites.
From there, we headed to Sunrise Massage, where Matthew and I each received a wonderful, relaxing massage from therapists Tina (for me) and Sean (for him).
Sunrise Massage offers a little bit of everything from Swedish massage to sports therapy massage to reflexology. The therapists are well-trained and professional and will make you feel fantastic! Our massages definitely worked out some of our “problem” spots (shoulders for me and back for him) and we left feeling happy and relaxed.
Our last stop was Hartville Kitchen, thanks to Cleveland’s a Plum mentioning her craving for their pie. First, Hartville Kitchen is enormous! I expected a little mom-and-pop restaurant and instead we found:
But the food still has the mom-and-pop feel. Matthew went with roast beef and I chose comfort-food-favorite fried chicken with mashed potatoes. The food was solidly good. Nothing fancy, nothing trendy, just what your grandma would serve you on a Sunday.
We couldn’t pass up the pie: black raspberry for me and strawberry for Matthew. Here was the only place I was disappointed. My pie had way too much overly-sweet goo to it. Matthew’s was fantastic, though, so I suppose it’s all in the kind you choose.
It was great to explore a new town not too far from home! And Discover Hartville wants to give you a chance to win one of three prizes to create your own trip to Hartville!
