***A bit of blogkeeping: Congratulations to Jessica @ Anchored in CLE (Comment #32), randomly-selected winner of catering for 20 people from Chipotle. Please check your email and respond by the end of the day or a new winner will be chosen.***

While it may be a bit late to be making New Year’s Eve plans, I have a way you can start your 2014 at a stylish and fun party, happening this Friday, January 3 at the Cleveland Museum of Art.

MIX: Celebrate is the January installment of the monthly first-Friday happy hour series at the Museum and will be celebrating the completion of the Museum’s expansion and renovation project.

The party goes from 5-11pm, with cocktails, a chance to take in the Museum collections, and music from DJ Rekha and DJ Dongo. DJ Rekha spins a “signature hip-hop infused blend of contemporary electronic dance with Bhangra and Bollywood sounds.” It’s sure to be a packed dance floor and a great evening!

Tickets are $14 in advance ($7 for Museum members) and $16 the day of the event ($9 for Museum members). You can purchase tickets online or you can enter to win two tickets right here!

Here’s how to enter (you can do one, two, three, or all four entries, just be sure to leave a separate comment for each):

1. Leave a comment telling me the best New Year’s party you’ve attended.

2. Leave a comment if you like the Cleveland Museum of Art and Why CLE? on Facebook, letting me know you like both pages.

***Disclosure: I was asked by the Cleveland Museum of Art to help promote MIX: Celebrate. In exchange, I will receive 2 tickets for myself and 2 tickets to give away. As always, all opinions are 100% my own.***

  1. The best New Years party I ever attended was the one right after we got married. We literally stayed home and watched the ball drop and watched the snow fall from our balcony. It was great.

Best New Year’s party was on an overnight flight to Madrid from NYC, in the early 90’s. The pilot announced that all booze was free all night long, and the flight attendants took on the burden of handling the boisterous plane-load of revellers like champs. My boyfriend and I were sitting in the smoking section (remember those?), and I staggered into the Spanish winter sunlight reeking of tobacco and feeling as hazy as if I’d been in a dream world instead of a 7-hour party at 30,000 feet over the Atlantic. In Madrid’s Puerta del Sol, litter from the previous night’s festivities lay everywhere, and lumps covered in coats slept in doorways and on benches. Two young men, determined to keep the party going, accosted us merrily on the sidewalk and convinced us to drop our suitcases and take long swigs from their bottle of champagne, then laughed as I gagged and grinned weakly. I’m sure they knew at that moment, even if I didn’t, that I wouldn’t forget that first day of a new year.

  3. The best New Years Eve party I attended was in Germany. I was with my sisters and boyfriend at the time and we had a blast. We were in the town square of the city we were visiting and there were people running around with fireworks and and people everywhere. We had a great time watching the fireworks over the lake and enjoying the time we were spending together.
