There seems to be an explosion of high-end Mexican restaurants lately. You know the kind: tasty tacos with a foodie bent and funky, fun decor. The newest entry to this scene is Paco’s Tacos & Tequila in Solon, from the owners of Burntwood Tavern.
Yesterday, Mom, Jeffrey, and I stopped in for lunch and enjoyed a wide variety of yummy food. We started with the tableside guacamole, to which you can add or subtract from a selection of standard guacamole ingredients (onion, cilantro, peppers, etc.). The guacamole was obviously very fresh and the warm tortilla chips were great.
We shared the lobster quesadilla and crispy shrimp appetizers. The lobster quesadilla had a nice amount of lobster claw meat and the spicy sauce on the shrimp really gave the dish some flavorful heat.
We also shared an order of spiced duck tacos with currants, pumpkin seeds, and habanero mango salsa. Each order of tacos comes with 2 tacos, as well as rice and beans (don’t pass these up, they were really good).
There were a lot of varieties of tacos I wanted to try, so it’s a good thing you can mix and match your tacos in your order!
For dessert, the churros were a must-have, covered with cinnamon sugar, filled with vanilla cream, and served with three different dipping sauces.
Jeffrey’s reaction to his kid’s quesadilla says it all…
It was a really tasty meal and, even in a crowded field of haute Mexican cuisine, Paco’s Tacos & Tequila is worth a visit!
