Why? Weekends!

What a glorious weekend! The weather was mild and there was plenty of fun to be had! On Friday morning, Jeffrey and I had a play date at the Lake Metroparks Farmpark. The first thing we got to see was the impressive collection of quilts that are part of the 25th annual Quilt Show.

The quilts are on display at the Farmpark through March23 and are definitely worth a look. Plus, the Farmpark has a host of new baby animals, from Albert the calf to lambs to piglets to baby goats that were only one day old when we were there!

The Farmpark is always one of our favorite spots and it was nice to be able to get there and enjoy the animals even in the winter! Plus, we got to check out the Big Red Barn toys, which have been relocated to the Farmpark while the Children’s Museum of Cleveland is closed for relocation.

Friday evening, we had a low-key evening of pizza and board games with our friends Nathan and Lane. We ordered pizza from The Wild Goose, one of our favorite spots for creative pies.

The Pesto Goose’O, Margherita, and Wild Gooseballs were all delicious! After Jeffrey went to bed, we played a few rounds of games and saw everyone’s competitive sides come out to play!

It was a fun way to catch up with friends!

Saturday morning, my friend Sara and I left our kiddos in the capable care of our respective husbands and headed out for a lovely morning of brunch, shopping, and spa time. We started with brunch at Sweet Melissa. No better way to start a day than with a Bloody Mary or an elderflower mimosa.

I love that brunch at Sweet Melissa comes with a tiny homemade scone and some fresh fruit to start the meal off right.

I had the ABC omelette (apples, bacon, and white cheddar) and Sara had the Michelle’s wrap (eggs, black beans, roasted corn, and charred tomatoes). Yum!

After brunch, we popped into Lovely Paperie and Gifts for some shopping. Lovely has an adorable selection of cards, books, clothes, and knick-knacks (including Sara’s find of an awesome Cleveland skyline platter). From there, we hit the ladies’ morning trifecta with spa time at Brown Aveda Institute.

I had some gift certificates from a silent auction prize I scored at the Children’s Hunger Alliance event. The services are all performed by students, so the prices are really reasonable and the service is meticulous, if a bit slow.

It was a truly enjoyable morning of friend time and good food and relaxation! And meanwhile, Matthew and Jeffrey took advantage of the ridiculous weather to have some fun in the park!

For Saturday dinner, I made a tasty beef roast (recipe here) and some rutabaga puree (recipe here), which thanks to Fresh Fork has become something of a side dish staple in our house.

Sunday was a quiet day at home. With another busy week ahead, that’s become my favorite way to spend Sunday, really.

How was your weekend?
