Why? Recess on 25th!

Last night, I crossed my fingers, let 70+ people loose on West 25th Street for a bar scavenger hunt, and watched them have an absolutely fantastic time!

This was the all part of the Playhouse Square Partners‘ Recess on 25th event to benefit the Bus Fund, which subsidizes the cost of school buses to get children to Playhouse Square for theater performances.

We started and ended our evening at Market Garden Brewery, who not only let us use their Ohio City Room, but also generously donated a $25 gift card and growler of beer to be raffled.

From there, teams fanned out to Bier Markt, Nano Brew, and Townhall (who was awesome enough to offer a drink discount just for Recess on 25th participants!). From taking selfies with certain items to chasing down the elusive Fat Bob, the hunt was both challenging and fun, with enough time to relax and have a beer or two along the way.

I was stationed at the bar at Market Garden for the evening and got to chat with a lot of the teams. I saw Partners members, but also a lot of people who thought this sounded like a fun evening for a good cause. I think I even met a couple soon-to-be Partners members! And I had a total fan girl moment when I introduced myself to Sam McNulty and thanked him for his bars being so cool for the event. I hope I wasn’t as awkward as I think I was with that, but regardless he was very gracious.

The evening ended with the announcement of the valedictorian (winning team), who scored loge seats to Kinky Boots and the raffle drawing. We had the prize from Market Garden, as well as a host of other Ohio City-themed prizes made possible by a generous cash donation from Tireman USA.

I can’t wait to hear our fundraising total from the evening, but I’m posting now because regardless, my heart is so full from the amazing turnout, all the effort from my fellow education co-chair Chris and Partners members and the Playhouse Square staff, and the general good vibes that I felt from all the attendees last night. We had a great time in a great neighborhood for a great cause!

If you’re interested in getting in on all the fun of a Partners evening, we have two upcoming events you can check out: the Partners Dine Around in Downtown Willoughby on Thursday, April 28 and Partners Trivia Night on Wednesday, May 11 at Kennedy’s Theatre at Playhouse Square. I hope to see you there!

***Disclosure: I am the co-chair of the Education Committee of Playhouse Square Partners (so this event was my baby). Tireman USA is a client of my consulting company. As always, all opinions are 100% my own.***

  1. Confession: I joined Partners & wanted to go to this but don’t know anyone & definitely didn’t want to go alone. I’m gonna need to buck up… I want to be able to participate in this stuff! Congrats on a great event. 🙂
