Last night, after an impromptu trip to spend Christmas gift cards (and find a Jump Back Ball dress, yay), Mom, Jeffrey, and I found ourselves dining at Cedar Creek Grille. Located in La Place, Cedar Creek offers a nice place of respite after the craziness of post-holiday shopping.
Describing itself accurately as “classic American cuisine,” Cedar Creek offers a selection ranging from soups and salads to burgers to steak and seafood.
Mom and I started with the Holiday Hibiscus cocktail. This not-too-sweet libation included vodka, St. Germaine, champagne, and a hibiscus flower.
If you can get in and grab one of these before the holidays are over, I highly recommend it!
For my entrée, I chose the Crispy Chicken Paillard, with a lightly-breaded chicken breast, oven-roasted tomatoes, arugula, lemon vinaigrette, and grated Reggiano.
The panko breading was really light and, even as a person who likes carbs on top of carbs, the tomatoes and arugula were the perfect accompaniment. No carbs needed!
Mom had the Lindey’s Shrimp and Angel Hair Pasta in a Cajun cream sauce.
Rich and delicious, with a hint of spice, this is a perfect choice for a cold night!
I also took Matthew home the Shrimp & Porcini Tortelloni special, with tiger shrimp, porcini mushroom tortelloni, arugula, pine nuts, and madeira cream sauce. He really enjoyed it and proclaimed the shrimp the biggest he’s ever seen!
Jeffrey had the kids menu mini burgers, smothered in Tillamook cheddar and served with French fries that he couldn’t stop stuffing in his mouth!
We skipped dessert due to the proximity to a certain favorite ice cream establishment (try their new Amaretto Cookie ice cream…oh my goodness), but we had an absolutely lovely meal at Cedar Creek Grille. The next time you’re in need of a break from mall craziness and chain mediocrity, look no further!
